Doctor Shernaz Walton was very good and explained everything to me. I was seen within a week of being referred by my doctor. After being examined I was told I needed miner surgery which was carried out within half an hour. I was treated very well by all the staff who put me at ease and explained ever thing from start to finish. I was very impressed with the care I received.

I had my consultation with this dr some time ago but after only recently being made aware of this site, this is my first opportunity to convey my experience. I was referred as a mark on my face had changed colour and enlarged. The dr looked at the mark and diagnosed actnic keratosis which I understood to be a type of sun spot. She said it could be frozen off or surgically removed but that freezing would not produce pathology. I asked if she was sure that was what it was - I asked this because I thought if it was definitely this then perhaps it wouldn't necessarily need pathology. To this question she snapped back "I've told you haven't I" - charming! I then asked if she thought it needed pathology to which she replied "of course". There was no proper discussion, no warmth and no real guidance and I just didn't know what to do. I wanted to make sure it wasn't potentially dangerous but it was on my face and being a young female I wanted the best cosmetic outcome - surely not too much to wish? In the end I agreed to surgical biopsy as she had led me to believe this was preferred. I was also unsure about freezing having recently viewed the result of this on a friends chest who had been treated by this dr and this treatment had left a pure white perfectly round circle - not a good look on the face! After going away I read that in fact there are more conservative options for treating actnic keratosis involving creams but this was not even offered to me as an option. At the end of my consultation, I also enquired if she thought I may have a bit of rosacea as I often flushed. To this she answered sharply "yes of course you have" - again charming! After consideration I sought a second opinion only to be told by the new dr that I did not have rosacea (and yes my flushing has completely gone now) and that after biopsy my mark was in fact a completely different diagnosis of discoid lupus. I am shocked that a dr with such apparent experience and knowledge could be so rude and so sure of herself. I only wish I had formally complained at the time but I believe it is too late now. I would never consult this dr again and would advise any patient to be strong in their interaction with her so she does not intimidate them as she unfortunately did me.
